SH-44 Widening in Star Scheduled to Begin This Fall

ITD plans to begin widening SH-44 between SH-16 and Star Road this fall. The project will expand the highway to five lanes, improve pedestrian pathways and connect with the SH-16 interchange work. Initial activities are scheduled for October, with most construction starting in spring 2027 and completion anticipated in late 2027. For nearby commercial properties, the work brings a longer-term transportation improvement alongside a construction period worth planning around. ITD will hold a public information booth October 22 at Liberty Hall in Star.
